How to Maintain Your New Cabinets ?
New cabinets are a great feature, but with any type of furniture, they still require routine cleaning to maintain proper upkeep. Here are a few tips from our Niceville cabinets professionals on how to keep your cabinets looking like new.
A few solid tips on keeping your cabinets looking good as new include using wood-safe cleaners for grease stains; wiping spills with small doses of soap and water; furniture polish; and good touch-up kits for scratches.
Install curtains or blinds near cabinets to protect them from direct sunlight; and use handles when opening and closing wood cabinets, because oil from your hands can damage the finish.
Add 1/2 cup of mild soap solution to a gallon of water and gently scrub your cabinets with a cloth. After rinsing the solution off your cabinets, be sure to dry with a cloth to remove any excess water or soap. Cabinets should be cleaned once every two weeks if you want them to maintain their new or like-new quality.
A light coat of wax will protect your cabinets from damage. When choosing a wax, choose one that is a liquid or paste form. After testing the wax on a small area of your cabinets, apply the wax in the direction of the grain. If you are using a liquid wax, spray onto a cloth so the wax is distributed evenly. Unlike cleaning, waxing should be done every six (6) months to maintain their condition.
